2013 update

Well I haven't posted on here for a very long time ! oops! Back to it with a few updates of what I've been up to.
I'm busy preparing for my first craft fair of the year, B(u)y me ! Handmade craft fair at the Borough Museum & Art gallery in Newcastle-under-Lyme. I was meant to do a fair back in March but the snow closed all the roads so now that's been put off til June. Luckily I made plenty of work for that which will be on show in Newcastle, including some new silver & copper jewellery I'm really excited about! And some new tiny copper vessels.

Here's a sneek peek of my new work which will be on show at B(u)y me, and my other upcoming shows over the next couple of months.

So it was the big show New Designers in London! It was Amazing and so much amazing work and talented makers. The first two days putting up the show was really stressful and overwhelming but the hard work paid off (: Was a great experience talking to other people about my work and how they responded to it, had some really great comments too which is always nice (:

first post!

so my first post, thought id share abit about myself and my work. I'm a final year student at wolverhampton university coming very close to finishing. scary times! so much to do in the next couple of months for assessments, my degree show and New Designers! but hopefully the long days in the studio and late nights will be worth it!

so a little bit about my work...
My work is inspired by organic froms especially decayed and eroded surfaces and textures which I explore in my metalwork. Using techniques such as etching, reticulation with patination I aim to create forms that explore the fragility and imperfection as well as the beauty of decayed surfaces.

Reticulated and patinated brass: 2012

I love the uncertainity of using these techniques to create a different effect each time, and never really knowing how something will turn out.
